GUBI_MASSIVE SLATS® consists of demountable modules formed by solid bamboo slats mechanically fixed to a fibreboard backing panel. This configuration preserves the relief and characteristic play of light and shadow created by the slats while eliminating the transparency associated with open systems. The continuous surface creates a cleaner and more uniform perception of the space, particularly in buildings where interior architecture plays a representative role.
Integration of building services and improved acoustic comfort
In addition to completely concealing the plenum, the backing panel performs an important technical function. It can incorporate different perforation patterns which, combined with sound-absorbing materials installed above the suspended ceiling, improve acoustic absorption and help reduce reverberation within the space.

It can also incorporate an in-depth fire-retardant treatment combined with a highly resistant lacquer finish, enabling the system to achieve a Bs1,d0 classification in accordance with CTE DB-SI.

Built architecture: three projects where the services disappear
The system’s ability to integrate building services without compromising the architectural appearance can be seen in several projects developed by GUBIA.
In the auditorium of the Centre Pompidou Málaga, the ceiling creates a continuous surface where the texture of the bamboo takes centre stage, while all technical installations remain concealed above the cladding.
In the function rooms and auditorium of the Official Association of Industrial Engineers, the system contributes to creating representative spaces with a restrained and elegant appearance while also improving acoustic performance.
The General Treasury of Social Security in Motril provides another example of this strategy. In this project, the slat-on-panel ceiling integrates the building services without interfering with the architectural perception of the space, providing a continuous and technically efficient finish.
