The architecture studio OHLAB, established in Palma de Mallorca and especialized in PassivHaus construction, has relied on Grupo GUBIA´s technical department to develop the wooden facade of one of the most emblematic projects.
It is a 7-floor residential complex located on Paseo de Palma, that will represent a landmark in the city for its architecture, sustainability, energy efficiency, urban integration, quality of materials, interior design and comfort. Designed following Passivhaus standars to achieve maximum energy efficiency and an air conditioning demand of only 15kWh / m2a, it will become a construction with a very low energy cost.
Most of the façade is made up of fixed and sliding panels made of slats of heat-treated wood. They are a brise-soleil for homes, lights and shadows allow to take advantages of the sun throughout the year. The wooden slats, with sections of 42×42, 68×42 and 90x42mm and diffrent separtions between them are fixed to an aluminum frame resistant to the marine environment. The random arrangement of fixed and sliding modules per floor provide vibration and movement to this facade, which will become the highest in Spain after the summer.
