The main façade of the new Laguna Beach commercial complex located in Estepona features unique latticework in thermo-treated pine designed and executed by Grupo GUBIA. This luxury resort, designed by Archidom Studio as an architectural ensemble completely integrated into the landscape, is located on the beachfront of the Costa del Sol. With an innovative concept, it brings together leading brands from the leisure and restaurant sector.
Avant-garde architecture and design are echoed in this architectural complex. Wood, a predominant material in the design, provides a warm, natural texture. It also contrasts with the other materials and enhances the curves that metaphorically recall the dunes of the site. For the choice of wood, the architectural studio relied on Grupo GUBIA, while delegating to our technical department the construction solutions for this material, which is complex when used outdoors.
Our contribution to the project is evident in the thermo-treated pine lattices that frame the main façade of the building. After more than a year, updated images of the site show how the PEFC-certified heat-treated pine used has proven to be an excellent choice for the site.
Despite the proximity to the sea and the climatic demands of the coast, the material has maintained its dimensional stability and visual appearance intact. Thanks to the heat treatment, the wood has effectively withstood humidity, temperature changes and xylophagous agents.
Our commitment to the use of sustainable and quality wood is reflected in every detail of this work. More information on the design and manufacturing process of these lattices can be found at this link.
This project is yet another example of how innovation and sustainability can go hand in hand in contemporary architecture.
