The new cultural space at El Cubo of port of Malaga was inaugurated yesterday. The event was chaired by the Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy, French Culture Minister Fleur Pellerin, Alain Sebban, President of Pompidou and Francisco de la Torre, mayor of Malaga.
The first extension of Parisian museum abroad, proposes a rich and varied journey through the art of the XX and XXI century and includes works by such renowned authors as Picasso, Miró, Magritte, Giacometti and Chagall.
Designed by architects Juan Antonio Marín Malavé and Javier Perez de la Fuente, Centre Pompidou enlarges the rich cultural offerings of Malaga next to the Center of Contemporary Art, the Picasso Museum and the Museo Carmen Thyssen
The Mayor of Malaga thanked the work of all those who have achieved the “miracle of opening this space today” and among them we find the team of GUBIA
Our technical department has been working with the architects during months to make reality the project. The dyed white wooden lattice, delicately manufactured by our carpenters, appears at the beginning of the visit under the multicolor intervention of Daniel Buren in The Cube, and end thereof as backdrop for the installation of Kader Attia, Ghost.
The Centre Pompidou has chosen the warm image of our bamboo in all public areas _ tickets sale, baggage room, café, shop, relax areas …_ and fixed furniture,
