Paral-lel is a contemporary residential complex located in the quiet Bonanova neighborhood, in the southwest of Palma de Mallorca.
Two building developed on ground floor+3 with twelve homes designed to achieve maximum energy efficiency. The north and south facades are solved with the motorized folding wooden lattice GUBI-vFolding made of folding wooden brise soleils, as a solar filter in the interior of the homes.
Due to its proximity to the sea, we chose thermo-treated FSC European pine. Wooden slats in 65x42mm section, brushed on all four sides are ensambled horizontally on a motorized aluminum frame, with a rack-pinion lifting system. The motors are hidden integrated into the frames, whose guides are fixed to black anodized aluminum profiles, GUBIA Group’s own extrusion. The system allows stopping the opening and closing of the wooden shutters in any position depending on the incidence of the sun and the needs of the home. The folding wooden brise soleils create a movement on both facades, a play of light and shadow inspired by traditional Mediterranean pergolas and lattices. (+)
