It has been two years since the remodeling of Palma Airport in Mallorca began. Aware of the importance of this infrastructure for the island, AENA has committed not only to its renovation and modernization, but also to building a benchmark for sustainable aviation in Europe.
Son Sant Joan, currently the third largest airport in Spain, will increase its surface area to improve the comfort and convenience of its passengers. In addition to new fingers, more security filters, check-in counters, baggage claim belts… the project includes the provision of new commercial spaces to meet the needs of passengers. VILOR, the company awarded the contract for these works, has placed its trust in GUBIA for the execution of all the interior design of the new VIP lounge.

Bamboo will be the predominant material in this project of almost 2000m2. Bamboo transformed into different products: solid flooring, wall paneling and acoustic ceilings, which contributes to sustainability. The material will provide quality and warmth to the space.
The unique curved shape of the slatted ceiling, which covers the entire hall, has been a new challenge for our production and technical department.

The remodeling of Palma airport is a long investment in this spectrum and its development will go through several phases. The assembly work by our carpenters has already begun and should be completed by the beginning of Semana Santa (Easter).
