With the completion of the woodwork, Grupo GUBIA<\/strong><\/a> concludes its participation in the new residential complex Mandarin Oriental Residences Madrid<\/strong><\/a>. This is one of the most exclusive developments in the capital, embodying the concept of a branded residence. The construction with laminated bamboo in this building, located in the Salamanca district and designed by Bueso-Inchausti & Rein Arquitectos<\/strong><\/a>, has earned it the LEED GOLD v4.1 Residential: Multifamily<\/strong><\/a> certification, reinforcing its commitment to sustainability<\/strong> <\/a>and energy efficiency.<\/p>\n

Our team developed and installed the bamboo elements that define the building\u2019s exterior appearance. Vertical fa\u00e7ade brise-soleils<\/strong><\/a>, terrace and overhang ceilings<\/strong><\/a>, as well as interior cladding<\/strong> <\/a>on the ground floor, are part of the bamboo applications throughout the property.<\/p>\n

Laminated bamboo: design, precision, and durability<\/span><\/h2>\n

The project incorporates BOO SP laminated bamboo<\/strong> <\/a>profiles measuring 50×125 mm, crafted with vertical grain to maximize stability and strength. Each piece was treated with eco-friendly fungicides and finished with GUBIA Saturator, a formaldehyde-free protective coating offering high weather resistance and low environmental impact.<\/p>\n

The fa\u00e7ade<\/strong> <\/a>brise-soleils, assembled with AISI 304 stainless steel components, act as solar filters that regulate interior light and temperature. Their arrangement simultaneously adds depth and texture to the architectural ensemble. On the exterior ceilings, the slats\u2014up to 7.5 meters long\u2014 are suspended with an adjustable concealed anchoring system, ensuring precise installation and seamless visual continuity.<\/p>\n

During the process, our technical department developed specific solutions to ensure the material\u2019s durability and faithfulness to the original design, optimizing production and assembly. The components left the workshop fully finished and pre-assembled, enabling quick and controlled on-site installation.<\/p>\n

Sustainability and comfort with laminated bamboo<\/span><\/h2>\n

In the building\u2019s common areas, the interior design studio Grupo Cosmic, led by Bel\u00e9n Domecq<\/strong><\/a>, incorporated interior bamboo claddings. Accordingly, our team designed a background panel anchoring system for overlapping vertical bamboo slats using the \u201cGUBIA concealed sliding fixing.\u201d Some of these panels, stained in walnut, are reinforced with a pattern of interwoven horizontal slats integrated into an orthogonal grid design. This added elegance to the execution while creating material continuity between exterior and interior.<\/p>\n
