The exterior carpentry of the Alfonso XIII Hotel is a strategic objective in the improvements of this building, this time, continuing with the Cartuja and Andalucía Halls.. Marriot, the largest American chain of luxury hotels, is once again making us part of its investments in the emblematic Sevillian hotel.
After last year’s intervention in the Royal Hall, our team returns with great enthusiasm, commitment and seriousness to work in these palatial spaces. Marked by marble floors and bohemian bronze and crystal chandeliers, the acoustic and thermal improvements of these spaces include the replica of traditional wooden carpentry, distinguished by the details of their construction period, on the 1929 exhibition.
The manufacture of this type of woodwork involves a meticulous and detailed process of reproduction. The aim is to preserve the beauty and the original character of these wooden elements, as well as the precise technology for their adaptation to meet the high and current standards of quality and comfort.
These doors and windows give the building its identity. They are distinguished by their old carpentry joints, their enormous dimensions, and the complexity of their “carpanel” arches with fixed and movable parts. In addition, the decorative carvings typical of the cabinetmakers of the time…
Grupo GUBIA’s carpentry officers are already in our workshops working and carving wood. Once again, iroko wood, from sustainable forest management, is the species that will give shape to the new woodwork.
Initial analysis of wood
Our technicians have specially chosen the wood batch: radial cuts, straight grain and a moisture content below 14%.
The production plans for each of the elements have almost been finished. The on-site measurements of the individual curved elements have been transferred to AutoCAD and translated into CAD/CAM language. This method is used to transfer the shape of these imposing arches as accurately as possible to our numerical control center.
The exterior carpentry of the Alfonso XIII Hotel is an element of great value for the building due to its singularity and hierarchy in all its facades. We are pleased to be able to contribute our experience and performance in this new work together with the hotel management, who have not hesitated to contact Grupo GUBIA again for this purpose.
